I'm not sure if it's possible to have too many tomatoes, but I think I came pretty darn close this year. I put up 5 batches of spaghetti sauce over the course of about 3 weeks and I've brought a couple crates (the size of the one below) in to work to share with coworkers.
I'm thinking I won't do the farmer's market next summer, so I guess I'll have a good reason to plant fewer tomatoes next year. Fifty-five plants was a bit too much!
Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteJust wait until the spring. You're outlook may be much different than from today.
I too became overzealous with my tomato plants and ended up with more produce than my family and the entire neighborhood can consume.
ReplyDeleteSo I canned a bunch, make sauces and purees as well as juices. Now I’m planning to give away about 50% of the plants so that next year I won’t need to deal with so many tomatoes.
Experience makes us wiser, don’t you think.
Hopefully I've put up enough tomato sauce to last me until next year. I still have some from last summer!
